Chris Thorpe

Chris is a writer and performer from Manchester. 


He is an Associate Artist at the Royal Exchange, Manchester, and his play for them, There Has Possibly Been An Incident was selected for the Stuckemarkt, Berlin, 2014. He's currently writing The Mysteries for the Exchange.
Chris has an ongoing collaborative relationship with director Rachel Chavkin of New York's TEAM. The first piece they made as writer/performer and director, Confirmation, is still touring internationally as they work on their next show Status.
Upcoming work in 2017 includes The Shape of the Pain, a new one-woman show for director Rachel Bagshaw/China Plate, Beowulf for the Unicorn Theatre and Victory Condition, which opens downstairs at the Royal Court Theatre this September, as well as ongoing productions of his work in the USA and Europe.
Recent work includes four plays for Portuguese experimental company Mala Voadora as well as Chorus for The Gate Theatre and a durational piece, The Milk of Human Kindness, for LIFT/The Royal Court. He has also worked with Forest Fringe, Belarus Free Theatre, Slung Low and RashDash.
He was a founder member of Unlimited and still works with the company, currently touring Am I Dead Yet? and is a member of Live Art/Performance company Third Angel. He plays guitar in Lucy Ellinson’s sludge metal/verbatim politics project #TORYCORE and works with poet Hannah Jane Walker, most recently on I Wish I Was Lonely.

He has also been an NSDF selector for a few years and he loves it.
