Breaking Down Barriers to Performing Shakespeare

Performance

This is a practical session on pieces of text in which we will explore fresh ways to reaching performance clarity and connectivity beyond the usual reliance on verse mechanics. A contemporary, industry-facing session on tough texts, preparing them for audition and performing them in all manner of spaces and making them clear and honest. Please wear comfortable rehearsal clothes. Please bring a speech from a play by Shakespeare that you are familiar with. There is additional value in being off-book, but plenty to explore if you’re not. Other texts will be provided.

Prasanna studied medicine at New College, Oxford and is now a writer, actor and director. He is currently an Associate Artist of Wilton’s Music Hall and is on the Boards of the National Youth Theatre and Headlong. He was a National Student Drama Festival judge in 2016.
